Inbox Zero

I love finding things that will improve my personal productivity and mindset. One of my great finds of last year was Inbox Zero by Merlin Mann. It’s related to the Getting Things Done concept from David Allen. It’s basically about getting a hold on your email.

Here’s my quick summary:

  • Periodically set aside time to check email. Stop interrupting what you’re doing whenever a new email comes in.
  • When you check your email – deal with it. Don’t stop until you’ve got everything either dealt with, or filed for future action. When you’re done, your inbox should be empty.

Merlin presented this concept at Google. It’s about an hour long, and well worth the time.
